Crystal Clear
The title of this post is reffering to the water. Tomorrow I will be wishing for the fresh splashing that took place today while enduring the high 30s here in Melboure, the city where never rains.
I probably mentioned it several times, but I just like to confirm what otherwise would have been just a suspicion...Surfing is hard. I think that if taken very early in life it might be simple and fun, but when taken upon oneself at 40 is still fun but far from simple. Every muscle ackes, every bump hurts and I dont know of any other sport in which you expose your entire body to such an extrenuos excersice while rolling your uncontrolled and twisted body under the water trying desperately to get some air before the next wave one comes along, and yet we keep coming back and like tonight, my shoulders are sore, my face is red and my eyes are very irritated.
The swell today was the largest so far, average wave size was 1.5m but a few times we climbed some 2.5 monsters. it was fun!
Ale took the wheel from Torquay on, I was exahusted. She became a good driver, sometimes a bit "too close for comfort" but I am happy she is quite good and alert when driving.
This photo is from the 18th of January, we went to Port Melbourne once more, there and back in less than 4 hours.
The next challenge that will take place probably on Wednesday is the 100k bike ride.
I agree, surfing is TOO HARD!I wish I had the stamina, the will and persistence that you have to learn. I think I grew a little too scared of the sea and a little too weary of my aging body. I admire you for it!
ReplyDeleteOh also, thank you for the confidence, about time you admit it!
Blah Blah...it is hard but is also so much fun that you forget about the ageing body (give me a break ageing body, I am older)
