2010 Movies
This year the list is very short, I didn't get to watch a lot of films in 2010, a mixture of busy and bad trailers made me stay at home and watch some good TV (yep there is a TV renaissance so there is not shame in watching the tube anymore) in any case here we go:
1- Kick Ass
why because it was fun and irreverent and I am sure it must have seen a lots of walks-offs when into the first 5 minutes the main character, a 11 years old girl says to her dad across the table "I am fucking with you,dad!"
the whole movie worked for me because it was not your typical super-hero movie, yet it manages to entertain like one while you watch how far they will push it or whether there will be a redemptive end for this psycho pre-teen girlr who impales bodies left and right without any remorse or restrains.
2- Scott Pilgrim...
why? well it is a movie first, the style seen for the first time I believe, the rhythm is that of a frantic C64 game the direction is great in that sense...I mean you could make a disaster failure or it could remain glued together as new genre and it did. it had lots of funny bits in it, the first ex is just amazing 'WHAT IS IT WITH THE PIRATE LOOK?"
3 - Inception
Maybe instead of why the questions should be "why not #2 or even #1?" I think Nolan overreached with this Film. Inception is one of those films that you know the director/creator will overplay his hand, he did what most people expected and he delivered but I do not think that it was a surprise.
